If it Was a Movie: The Inhumans

The Inhumans are most likely going to become a movie. With the introduction of the latest series and overwhelming growth of Inhuman characters inside the Marvel Universe it appears obvious that Marvel wants to build this as a MCU property. As an introduction movie, the storyline involving Maximus the Mad turning the cloned slave force of the Inhumans against Black Bolt would probably be a great starting point. By the time this property becomes a reality there may be an entire new listing of Inhumans, but for this casting it’s best to stay with the classics.

Black Bolt – Hugh Dancy

When thinking about who can play Black Bolt you have to honestly consider who can tell a story without talking once. For me, Hugh Dancy has had a stellar performance on the show Hannibal. He is part of the reason why that show is one of the best things on tv today. There are moments in the show where he conveys more than words ever could with a glance. If he brought that over to an Inhumans movie I don’t see why he wouldn’t be the perfect Black Bolt.

Medusa – Natalie Dormer

Who can play the strong queen to the silent queen? True, I’m picking an actress who has already had a turn in the MCU with her throw away role as a girl who kisses Captain America. But she is such a stronger actress than that. Sure, this is also a little type casting as she has played Anne Boleyn in The Tudors and a queen in Game of Thrones. But she also conveys a subtle strength in these roles and has also shown that when needed she does need to be subtle. Also, if you have seen pictures of her hair for her Hunger Games role then you should know it doesn’t matter what’s on her head, half shaved or a ton of ensnaring locks, she’ll look gorgeous.

Karnak – Noel Clarke

This was the hardest choice for me being that it needed to be someone small, but still with somewhat of a physical presence. I have no doubt that Noel Clarke could pull that off along with bringing tons of extra nerd credit to this film as a former companion to The Doctor.

Gorgon – Dwayne Johnson

A hulk of a character needs a hulk of a man to play. I think this is a no brainer. Plus with his usual charisma and box office pull, he could probably swing a Gorgon spin-off

Triton – Summer Glau

I’m going to make some people mad with this one, but as I started to think about who could play this character my original thought was Doug Jones. And I think he would be fantastic, but it really is the same as Abe Sapien from Hellboy, so I started to think about whom else could pull of this character. It had to be someone lean but with strength. It immediately hit me that Summer Glau could play this. In a movie that could be considered predominately male what is wrong with making a secondary character a female? I’ve never believed gender defines this character and could easily be represent as any.

Crystal – Allison Scagliotti

I’m not sure about this role to be honest. I thought about it and went back and forth and decided to settle of Allison Scagliotti. She has demonstrated that although she appears a cute girl, she is also capable of playing a strong and intelligent woman as was shown in her development in the show Warehouse 13. Generally Crystal has always seemed to be a bit of a one dimensional character, and I think Allison could do a great job of flushing out her characteristics.

Maximus – Andrew Scott

When thinking of who could play the mad brother of the king, and potential villain, this was a really easy. Andrew Scott, who is currently best known for his portrayal of Moriarty in the BBC’s Sherlock, knows how to play a highly intelligent sociopath. And with a little work this could easily be turned into Maximus and could create the next great MCU villain like Loki.

Lockjaw – Andy Serkis

Put him in a mocap suit and let him play! You can’t tell me you wouldn’t love watching that special feature on the bluray.

Uatu the Watcher – Gary Oldman

Gary Oldman can play anything. If Uatu isn’t owned by the Fantastic Four an Inhuman movie would be a great intro for this character into the MCU. And again, Gary Oldman can play anything.

  • Kevin must be working for Fox or Marvel Studios. Changing the race and sex of the characters…Kevin, Kevin, Kevin…

  • Oooooh. You just gave me a great idea that will make everyone annoyed and angry! Thanks, Jarid! I’ll dedicate that “If It Was a Movie” to you!
