Confirmed by Entertainment Weekly about an hour ago, Drea de Matteo has landed a guest-starring role on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
For those not familiar with de Matteo’s career, she’s best known for roles on Sons of Anarchy and The Sopranos. According to the article, she will be playing “a gifted woman with a grudge to bear against S.H.I.E.L.D., who joins forces with Skye’s father, Cal (Kyle MacLachlan). Daredevil fans may recognize the supporting character name, though in the comics, Karla did not posses any powers. It’s all connected?”
“We’re thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast,” executive producer Jeph Loeb says in the release. “We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role.”
De Matteo’s casting follows a number of other recent announcements including that Tomorrow People star Luke Mitchell will be playing an Inhuman who has an important role in Skye (Chloe Bennet) understanding what’s now happening to her.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, March 3 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
