Wow.

What a light news weekend for Marvel, at least from what we saw this weekend.

The good news is we still have a few juicy tidbits for you to enjoy that broke this past Saturday and Sunday so let’s take a look!


Charlie Cox Appears as Daredevil on Cover of Film Ink

The team here at Marvel 616 Politics is very excited about the new Daredevil series which will kick off in April on Netflix.

After the first trailer came out, Marvel fans got an idea of how the tone for the series will be and based off our poll results, most of the Body Politic is more than looking forward to this one.

The series stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, a lawyer-by-day who fights crime at night. It is the first in a series of shows that will lead up to a Defenders crossover miniseries, and is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, with Steven S. DeKnight serving as showrunner, and Drew Goddard acting as consultant.

All episodes are set to premiere on April 10, 2015.


 Big Hero 6 Walks Away with Academy Award for Best Animated Feature!

That’s right. Disney’s Marvel-inspired animated feature-film Big Hero 6 took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature on Sunday, beating out The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Song of the Sea, and The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. The award was accepted by co-directors Don Hall and Chris Williams along with the film’s producer, Roy Conli.

To date, Big Hero 6 has grossed more than $546 million at the global box office. It features the voices of  Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, TJ Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans Jr., Genesis Rodriguez, Daniel Henney, Maya Rudolph, James Cromwell and Alan Tudyk.

Big Hero 6 is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.


New Marvel Heroes Co-Op Game Announced

On Monday, Marvel Entertainment and mobile game developer DeNa announced Marvel Mighty Heroes, a brand-new, real-time co-op brawler which stars both heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe.
