It appears Netflix is already scouting new talent for another Netflix series.
This morning, actor Ryan Phillippe made an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” where he revealed he’s been talking with both Netflix and Marvel about joining the cast of one of the five series being produced as part of the two’s current deal. Phillippe was hush-hush regarding which character he may portray yet still direct in his announcement that he was in fact talking to the studio about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a role which has yet to be discussed.
“I’m meeting with — Marvel is interested in talking about, like Netflix, a series, possibly — the ‘Daredevil’ series is great,” Phillipe said to Stern.
Currently, of the four primary series (“Daredevil,” “A.K.A. Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist“), the only one without a lead actor cast is”Iron Fist”. In addition to “Daredevil’s” Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter have been cast as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
Since Iron Fist is often depicted as somewhat of a blond playboy in the comics, it would seem the odds could in fact be in favor of Phillippe staring in “Iron Fist”. With that said, he could also be up for a villain rule in one of the other series.
Only time will tell…
